“Rumi’s Dream and Other Stories”
For its second participation in Nomad, third generation carpet gallery Iwan Maktabi brings to you “Rumi’s Dream and Other Stories"
A collective project featuring three women designers hailing from Lebanon: Rumi Dalle, Hala Matta and Roula Salamoun, side by side by design duo David/Nicolas
Following her fascination with material, Rumi Dalle goes on a quest to discover new and exotic materials.
The result is a collection of wall tapestries/sculptures made from felt, entitled "it felt like a dream"
Ceramicist Hala Matta (Namika Atelier) compliments that dream with her series of totems made using ceramic stoneware with raku firing
For Roula Salamoun, a trip to Nepal with the Maktabi family guided her to create Strata; a series of 4 carpets which tell the story of the multilayers of urban living, inspired by the architecture, landscape, rooftops, temples, and steps intertwined with lush greenery.
And finally, David/Nicolas are back for round two with the limited edition Orientations collection in brand new colorations.
This collection translates the duo's design language into collectible carpets, reminiscent of antique rugs.
A melange of ancient, contemporary and futuristic elements, woven into timeless aesthetics.
